Palermo

Cathedral and Hermit

After the trip to Monreale, we went back to Palermo, presumedly AFTER services were over at the Cathedral. Actually we were there in the middle of Mass. Then we visited an old "church", no longer used, of San Giorgio the Hermit.

Detail over the main doorway of the cathedral.
Detail of the decorations around the doorway.
Inside the Cathedral mass was underway and I took only a few pictures.
The hermitage bell tower.
Arch in the hermitage courtyard.
Hermitage dome.
The inside of the dome. This is how a round dome was constructed on a square tower.
This is the view of the port of Palermo from our cabin.
