Taormina
Taormina was an unexpected gem. We knew little about its charms before we went. It's a nice village with lots of shops, a FIVE star hotel overlooking the sea, and a wonderful ancient open-air theatre that is still used for productions. We would go back anytime.
One of our "you are here" moments One of many shops along the streets of Taormina
Narrow streets
Narrow streets decorated for Christmas
This narrow street goes uphill by steps.
A 14th century castle.
A grocer. Pretty typical all over southern Europe.
Nearly at the top of the hill toward the theatre, we passed a 5-star hotel. Nice place.
View over the theatre from the top of the seats.
View out the back of the theatre.
Theatre seats with our little tour group.
View throught the archway.
The ship's photographer took this one.
Nice view. Or this view.
Mt. Etna is visible from much of Taormina (check the other views)
