Monreale Cathedral
After the Cappella Palatina, we traveled a little way outside of Palermo to Monreale (royal mountain) and visited the Cathedral. The walls and ceilings were covered in mosaics and the place was full of crypts. Really old crypts.
Our tour group passing through the town square headed for the cathedral. Inside the cathedral.
This must be where the Pope or Cardinal comes out to wave to the people. Ceiling details.
Confessional.
One of the side chapels.
The main altar. There are large silver statues along the back of the altar.

William the 1st (the Bad) died 1166. William the 2nd (the Good). They redid his crypt much later, unlike his father.
