Knossos Museum
All artifacts found at the Knossos site have been kept at this museum. Some artifacts date to 7000 BC. You get a good idea of what it was actually like from jewelry to jars to figurines to weapons to artwork. Most of the frescos were removed from the site and these are in the museum. This is just a small sampling of the pictures I took.
Museum ticket. This is the most rare piece of jewelry in the museum. Combination tub and burial container.
Very old figure.
This bronze dagger with gold handle dates from 1800 BC.
Seals (for sealing wax). There was an extensive collection. Decorated jars.
Marble amphora. Fancy container.
Very large storage jar.

Some of the gold jewelry. There were also some with precious and semi-precious stones or glass.

A ceremonial helmet. The bull - symbol of Minos. Another bull's head.
These huge double axes were ceremonial only. Some of the wall decorations were carved in relief - not just painted on.
