Athens City
We took a half day tour to see the highlights of Athens especially the Acropolis and the Olympic Stadium. The stadium has been the site of the modern olympics held in Athens. It will be part of the next ones held there also. The Acropolis, of course, has the Parthenon and several other temples and structures. The hill it's on just sticks up above a relatively flat area. There are a couple more similar hills at a distance from the Acropolis. We thought we might return to a place we found interesting, but the city wasn't that appealing and it the weather turned bad.
One view of the city from the tour bus. That's the soccer stadium. Note the air pollution. McDonald's, of course.
The olympic stadium, in use since late 1800s. The open end of the horeshoe shape ia about 20 feet from the street. Closeup of the marble seats
