California Dreaming
We visited the Bay Area for a weekend in the beginning of June. Besides eating, playing Putt-Putt, and visiting family, we spent a morning at Ardenwood Farm which was hosting a Celtic Festival and a day travelling Route 1 from around Santa Cruz up to SF. It was a glorious weekend with perfect weather as you can see in these images.
Ardenwood Historic Farm in Freemont is quite charming.
Very young goat.

The Celtic Festival was being held at Ardenwood that weekend. "Celtic" was loosely translated to include groups that re-enact many historic periods and geographical locations. The booths included Celtic related items and New Age goods. Anyone need fairy wings in assorted colors? There were dancing groups, pipe bands, Roman Legion, etc. My favorite was the fire-breathing dragon which was articulated to chomp and move it's head side-to-side and up, down and twisting. Then it spewed fire (propane) from it's nostrils.

Elaborate encampment - where did that chair come from?
This appears to be celtic, at least

Druids, maybe?

The drive from Santa Cruz to the southern parts of San Francisco along Route 1 is not, apparently, well travelled. Good for us, since it was Sunday and a gorgeous day. A cool breeze offset the strong sun and we all got a little burn. We stopped several times: a beach or two, two lighthouses, and Ft. Funston National Park.

This house was between the road and the ocean. Fixer-upper?
This was on the opposite side of the road from the surfers' beach.

Fort Funston National Park
Ft. Funston has several activities available. There are hike-and-bike trails. Everyone seems to have a dog to walk (little plastic bags provided by the park service). The ocean view is terrific. Looking the other direction, there is Dale City sights (not the high point) and in the distance the Golden Gate Bridge. This used to be a WWI gun battery and bunkers are still there. Radio-controlled planes were being flown off the cliffs into the brisk wind. However, the hang glider pilots (maybe a dozen) who were gathered with their planes never took off - I assume the winds were too high.
Actually, this was the last shot I took, but the most dramatic Looking south over the cliff
